November 6, 2021: Lyn Adamson was interviewed by Saoirse Wilson on BBC World Interview about her views of COP26 and what is needed to curb climate change.
BBC World News contacted ClimateFast for an interview following the Nov 6th Climate Justice Rally at Queen's Park, part of the Global Day of Action for Climate Justice.

On the evening of November 4th, Toronto climate activists gathered for a candle-lit vigil to send a strong message to Canadian representatives at COP26: stay focused on the Paris goal of limiting warming to 1.5C.

Fossil Fuel Election Pledge Campaign
During the federal election campaign TeamClimate 2021 urged candidates to endorse the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative. Candidates from three of the major federal political parties pledged support for the Treaty, including Green Party candidate Amanda Cain.

The federal election has been called for September 20, 2021.

We restricted nuclear weapons. Now we must limit fossil fuels
On Aug. 6, 1945, a single nuclear blast destroyed Hiroshima, Japan.
Imagine 400,000 Hiroshima bombs a day. That’s the energy imbalance being created on the planet — an imbalance that has doubled, according to NASA, since 2005.
And every time we leave our homes in a fossil-fuelled car, take a flight or turn on our gas-powered furnace or AC, we are adding to that energy imbalance. We are saturating an oversaturated atmosphere.

We Made History!! Toronto City Council Endorses Call for Fossil Fuel Treaty
On July 15th Toronto City Council took a big step in response to the climate emergency by voting in an overwhelming majority to endorse the call for a FossilFuel Non-Proliferation Treaty initiative which takes aim at the source of 80% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
TCAN members support the FFNP Treaty
The Toronto Climate Action Network is a network of over 40 climate action organizations in the Toronto area, including ClimateFast. Many TCAN members voiced their support for the City to endorse the call for a Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, which was passed by City Council on July 15, 2021.

Indigenous Protected Conservation Areas
This May, The Narwhal, held a webinar on the role Indigenous Protected Conservation Areas (IPCAs) could play in protecting biodiversity and mitigating climate change (1). IPCAs are different from other Conservation Areas because the lands and waters are governed by Indigenous leadership using Indigenous laws, governance and knowledge systems (2). Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty-Toronto Campaign
We have whole-heartedly endorsed the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty (FFNPT) and helped to organize the Toronto FFNPT campaign, along with our partners MobilizeTO and Fridays4FutureTO. Our aim was to have Toronto City Council endorse the treaty, and to ask the Canadian government to endorse the treaty and support its passage at the upcoming COP26 UN Climate Change Conference in November 2021.
