It can be difficult to talk about threats like the climate crisis. Yet, some people face impacts, including food insecurity, loss of their homes and extreme heat right now. For others, these threats inch closer or cloud visions of the future. The majority know that something is wrong. They might not know just what or how wrong. Or they might not know what to do or how to stay hopeful.
In every one of these cases, it's important to start talking! It helps to make a dedicated space to share experiences, feelings and ideas. In that space, people can acknowledge the impacts and challenges they face and the vital need for climate justice. They can envision a better future and explore solutions and potential actions together.
Kitchen Table Climate Conversations (KTCCs) present a way we can create this dedicated space. They begin with a host who invites others to come sit around their table and engage in a guided conversation. Virtual tables for now of course! Hosts can run the conversation themselves or work with a facilitator.
