Calling all our supporters! We need your help!

We are all feeling an urgency to address the climate crisis like never before. 2023 was the hottest year on record.  Every month since July 2023 has been the hottest month in Canada, and in the world.

In response, ClimateFast has plans to double-down on work in Toronto this year.  While thinking globally, we are acting locally. We plan to make all Toronto residents and politicians more aware of the truly workable solutions we have at hand, focusing on  those in Toronto's "Net-Zero by 2040 Strategy".

For ClimateFast to meet its goals for broad public support for climate mitigation and adaptation solutions and full implementation of TransformTO, we will need the support and energy of our entire ClimateFast community.  Throughout the year, ClimateFast will be building research teams, community engagement teams, communications teams…and more. We need more hands on deck…including you!

To better engage with our base of supporters, we have created a short survey to determine how you might be interested in getting more involved. You can find the survey here. We would be so grateful if you would take a moment to fill it in.

We recognize that many of you would feel better able to participate in our campaigns with more knowledge. Some of the topics we think might be helpful are: climate change basics, TransformTO fundamentals, and climate communications. Please let us know how we can help you and we will prepare some training opportunities.

Let's stop the 'Keep Enbridge Happy Bill'. Join us next Wednesday 7 - 8:30 pm

After extensive deliberations, the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) ruled in the public interest to end massive ratepayer funded fossil fuel subsidies to Enbridge Gas and to developers.  Within hours, the Ford government promised to overturn the OEB decision, and have now delivered Bill 165. This Bill would continue subsidies to Enbridge with our money, promoting ongoing fossil gas infrastructure across Ontario and escalating energy bills in perpetuity. Bill 165 will make it impossible for Toronto to achieve our climate targets. Bill 165 also undermines the authority of the OEB, further weakening our public institutions in an undemocratic manner.

Join Environmental Defence, ClimateFast, Ontario Climate Emergency Campaign, Canadian Assn of Physicians for the Environment, Seniors for Climate Action Now, Hamilton 350, and to discuss the details and impacts of Bill 165 and learn how you can join the movement to support the historic OEB decision to keep our energy costs down, protect our democratic rights and protect a sustainable liveable future.
